PhilHealth SoCCSKSarGen holds first Konsulta Caravan 03-14-2024

Almost 1,600 beneficiaries in Koronadal City, South Cotabato availed of PhilHealth services during the Konsulta Caravan at the South Cotabato Gym and Cultural Center on March 14, 2024.

The event has provided attendees with the opportunity to go through the actual process of Konsulta from registration to drug dispensation, and first patient encounter (FPE) conducted by doctors, licensed midwives, nurses, and medical technologists of South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, City Health Office, and Rural Health Units of Tampakan, Tantangan, and Tupi. On the other hand, Mahintana Foundation provided free drugs and medicines to the beneficiaries upon the recommendation of physicians.

The local media also registered with Konsulta and availed of primary care services. They have asked questions about Konsulta and other PhilHealth programs during the ensuing press conference. As partners in advocating Universal Health Care (UHC), they committed to help PhilHealth in its information dissemination efforts about the National Health Insurance Program.

In his message, Dr. Hector Zenon Leonardo P. Malate, PhilHealth XII Regional Vice President, said that the Corporation’s goal is to ensure that every Filipino has access to affordable and quality health care – providing financial health risk protection to all South Cotabateños.

The Konsulta Caravan, he added, “is a testament to PhilHealth’s commitment in reaching the farthest corners of the nation and delivering on the Corporation’s promise of ‘damang dama ang benepisyo.’"

South Cotabato Vice Governor Dr. Arthur Y. Pingoy, on the other hand, asked the people to support the program for the sake of UHC’s attainment. “Gov. [Reynaldo] Tamayo being the Chair of NAPCI or National Anti-Poverty Council is mandated to provide free education, food for all, employment, housing accommodation and free hospitalization for all. We prioritize the latter and that is what we are doing right now here in the province.” South Cotabato Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rogelio B. Aturdido closed the program by saying that, indeed, “South Cotabato, Angat ka sa lahat!”

The next caravan will be in Gen. Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Cotabato, and Sarangani. Out of the 5 million target Konsulta beneficiaries in the region, PhilHealth XII has already registered more than 1 million.
